Guest Blog - #1 in a series with SP alum Jeff Kavy

*Special thanks to Jeff Kavy — who recently completed our March pilgrimage with guest teacher Tim Feldman. This is the first in a series of blogs that Jeff drafted during our travels:

I literally can’t believe it!
I’m going to Katmandu, Nepal.

I count myself among the fortunate few who secured a spot with Cory Bryant, the spiritual pilgrim, on his Nepal 2023 Pilgrimage, “Ashtanga & Buddhism in the Katmandu Valley with Tim Feldmann.” It’s going to be a fabulous journey.
We’ll explore the connections between ashtanga and Buddhism as we practice asana every morning and visit some of the most sacred pilgrimage sites of Tibetan Buddhism in the afternoons.
Among them Swayambunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Boudhanath, a massive, three-dimensional mandala (one of the largest Buddhist shrines in Asia). We’ll hike through the pine forests of Pullahari to isolated Tibetan monasteries and nunneries in the stunning Kathmandu Valley. We’ll spend time at Namo Boudha resort enjoying spectacular Himalayan sunsets.
I’m so pumped!

I’ll work daily on my asanas, advance my meditation, learn to quiet my mind, study Tibetan Buddhism, receive Dharma Teaching from masters, attend Puja and Sanga and just have the very best time!
But before meeting Cory and Tim in Katmandu, I’ll be taking advantage of Turkish Airlines liberal stopover policy and spending some time in Turkey.
Shortly, I’ll be boarding Turkish Airlines nonstop flight from DFW and in just 11 hours I’ll be landing in Istanbul. I’ve booked a 6 day jewels of Turkey tour including Istanbul, Ephesus and Pamukalle.
I’m gonna blog about the whole adventure including the places I see, the food I eat, the things I learn, the people I meet and the fun I have.
It’s gonna be a blast so if you’ve never been to Istanbul or have always dreamed of journeying to Nepal, you should come along, join me.
