DAILY RUNDOWN
Day 1 – Arrival and Orientation
Your pilgrimage begins at Hotel Vajra, where we gather for lunch and orientation with Sarah and Amanda. The afternoon opens with a Dharma-infused talk by Cory on the meeting points of Buddhism and yoga, followed by a stroll through the lively streets of Thamel and a visit to first of the valley’s three ancient kingdoms — Kathmandu Durbar Square. The evening closes with a warm welcome dinner at Thamel House before returning to Vajra to rest and settle into the journey.
Day 2 – Swayambhunath & Pharping
An early morning of meditation and yoga practice centers the body and mind before breakfast. Walking from Vajra to the great Swayambhunath Stupa to explore it’s ancient history and symbolism. From there, the path turns south to Pharping, where we share lunch at a local cafe and explore Asura Cave, the Vajrayogini Temple, and the monumental Padmasambhava statue. Returning to Vajra in the evening, dinner is left open for your own enjoyment.
Day 3 – Patan & Arrival in Boudha
The day begins with practice at Vajra before journeying into Patan, the ancient city of artisans. A walking tour unfolds through Durbar Square, the museum, and the Mahabuddha Temple, with lunch at the historic Patan Museum Cafe. By afternoon we reach Boudhanath, settling into Hotel Lotus Gems and circling the Great Stupa with James before dining together at Roadhouse Café.
Day 4 – Teachings in Boudha
After an early puja and yoga practice, the morning flows into breakfast and spacious free time. In the afternoon, we gather for Dharma teachings that deepen our understanding of the path. Dinner at Utpala Café provides a nourishing close to the day.
Day 5 – Nagi Gompa Pilgrimage
The morning begins with meditation before a brief stop at Budhanilkantha, where the reclining Vishnu rests in the waters. From there we hike into the Shivapuri forest to Nagi Gompa. Here, Ani Gyan Tara offers teachings and meditation, followed by a simple shared lunch. By afternoon we return to Boudha, leaving the evening free for rest or dinner on your own.
Day 6 – Dharma, Quilts & Pashupatinath
Yoga and meditation anchor the morning, with time to relax before an afternoon Dharma teaching. Soon after, we visit the Quilts for Kids project with James, experiencing a living example of compassion in action. As night falls, the pilgrimage turns to Pashupatinath, where the golden light of sunset gives way to the mystery of evening puja along the Bagmati River.
Day 7 – Bhaktapur & Namo Buddha
One final morning of practice in Boudha begins the transition outward. With luggage in tow, we travel to Bhaktapur to explore its timeless courtyards, artisan shops, and temples. After a leisurely afternoon, we continue to the serene Namo Buddha Resort, where dinner welcomes us into days of stillness and retreat.
Day 8 – Rest and Reflection
Life slows at Namo Buddha, with morning meditation and yoga in the Lasho Hall, followed by open time for journaling, rest, or quiet exploration. After lunch, a guided walk through nearby villages offers a glimpse into the rhythms of local life. In the evening, we gather for sangha and meditation before sharing dinner together.
Day 9 – Pilgrimage to Namo Buddha Stupa
The morning begins with practice, followed by a gentle hike to the sacred Namo Buddha Stupa and Thrangu Monastery, where stories of the Buddha’s compassion permeate the air. Lunch and free time allow space for integration before the community gathers again in the evening for meditation and shared reflection.
Day 10 – Return to Boudha & Farewell Celebration
Our last morning in the hills brings meditation, yoga, and a final meal at the resort before returning to Boudha. After free time in the afternoon, we gather at James’ home for a quilt viewing and happy hour, followed by a catered farewell dinner, closing the journey with gratitude and joy.
Day 11 – Blessings and Departure
On the final morning, we gather for meditation, a prayer flag ritual, and a puja at Ka Nying Shedrup Ling Monastery. A final breakfast together at Shechen Garden Café completes the pilgrimage. With hearts full, airport transfers begin—each traveler carrying the blessings of the valley and the connections forged along the way.
